My approach

All clients are welcome in my practice. I’ve found that I especially connect with clients whose stories have included navigating experiences around:

  • Neurodivergence (diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or suspected)

  • Queerness

  • Racial identity

  • Family dynamics

  • Cultural / religious expectations

  • Disability and/or chronic illness

  • Intimate partner violence & emotional abuse

  • People pleasing

  • Anxiety / “Overthinking”

  • Self-doubt & self-criticism

  • Depression / difficulty accessing enjoyment or fulfillment

  • Being a creative person / artist

  • Not fitting into the 9-5 working world

I strive to make my practice a safe, non-judgmental space for all clients - one that is anti-ableist, anti-colonial, queer- and trans-friendly, sex work-positive, kink and non-monogamy positive, and welcomes people in all bodies.

I recognize the colonial history of psychotherapy and am continuously and actively striving to dismantle and examine its legacy in my practice. As part of this work, I always welcome and encourage feedback on how my practice and the space we hold together can better meet your needs.

Relational Psychotherapy

My training is in Relational Psychotherapy - a talk therapy modality that looks at the implicit rules that we each learn about being in relationship with others and with ourselves. Did we learn that we need to make ourselves small to keep others happy? Or perhaps that being safe meant not letting anyone else in? And what about our relationship to the various parts of ourselves - which parts did we learn were more valid and less valid, more and less worthy? How did our families, our relationships, and our societal context shape these views?

The rules we internalize are complex and individual to each of us, and as part of our work together, I would seek to learn what makes up your unique story. My goal is for us to be able to look together at all of these different pieces of your experience, and to build a new kind of relationship in which we can visibilize these deep-seated beliefs, think about where they came from, experiment with them, and see what still fits and what you may want to change.

We do this work together, at your pace and with you in charge. I strive to hold our space with non-judgment and invitation toward all of your parts. I come to this work with the knowing that we are all just trying to survive, and my hope is that some of those parts that you may have felt needed to be cast away in the past might find a home in our work together. I would be honoured to hold your story with you.

In addition to my Relational Psychotherapy focus, I continue training and learning in diverse modalities, and incorporate an eclectic, trauma-informed approach that is unique to each client and includes somatic and nervous system-based elements and cognitive approaches.
